BA Grade: 45/High

Dreiling stood out for his well-rounded game and advanced hitting ability at Hays (Kansas) High, when he ranked as the No. 336 player in the 2022 draft class, but scouts wanted to see him perform at Tennessee because he lacked a true carrying tool. Now a draft-eligible sophomore, Dreiling has done just that in his two seasons in the Southeastern Conference and is a career .319/.445/.669 hitter in 116 games. He went from seven home runs as a freshman to 20 homers in 2024. Listed at 5-foot-11, 200 pounds, Dreiling has solid on-base skills and power with a swing that can get a bit rotational at times but has led to plenty of success with Tennessee. Most of his power comes to his pull side, and he tends to get overly pull-happy at times, but he has a solid eye at the plate. He has always walked at a high clip, with a career 18.5% walk rate. Dreiling has been susceptible to left-on-left sliders and will need to sharpen that area of his game, but he does enough offensively to project for solid-average hitting ability and power. Dreiling is a left fielder who runs well but is just a fringy defender who could potentially get to average with more work. His fringe-average arm is best suited for left.

Dreiling stood out for his well-rounded game and advanced hitting ability in high school, when he ranked as the No. 336 player in the 2022 draft class, though scouts wanted to see him perform at Tennessee without a single carrying tool. Now a draft-eligible sophomore, Dreiling showed solid on-base skills and power in his 2023 freshman season, when he slashed .295/.433/.621 with seven home runs and more walks than strikeouts in 50 games. While his overall numbers are strong, Dreiling needs to improve against lefthanders this spring and has earned Drew Gilbert comparisons in the past. He has a chance to be a top-five round selection. -
School: Hays (Kan.) HS Committed/Drafted: Tennessee
Age At Draft: 19.3
A 6-foot, 200-pound outfielder and lefthanded hitter, Dreiling is a highly competitive and tough player who has a chance for average or fringe-average tools across the board. Nothing jumps off the page immediately, but there are some scouts who believe he’s a good enough hitter to become a 60 bat in the future. He’s a fringe-average runner, with fringe-average arm strength and average defensive ability and a chance for fringy or average power as well. Because there’s no carrying tool presently, many teams would prefer him to make it to campus at Tennessee where he will have a chance to prove his hitting ability and add more strength to tick up his overall tool set. He reminds some in the industry of current Volunteer outfielder Drew Gilbert given his profile and mentality on the baseball field. He is old for the class and will be a draft-eligible sophomore if he makes it to campus in Knoxville.
