  Track Record: Torin stood out as one of the best defensive shortstops in the 2022 international class and signed with the D-backs for $240,000 out of Venezuela. He showed a better approach and contact skills than anticipated in his stateside debut and had a standout spring training at age 17, routinely being brought over to big league camp to be a reserve in Cactus League games. He continued to star in the Arizona Complex League, batting .320/.437/.427, and finished the year at Low-A Visalia.
  
  Scouting Report: Torin has a short, repeatable swing and a discerning eye, a combination that leads to lots of contact and few chases. He has subpar bat speed and doesn’t hit the ball hard, however, limiting his power projection. He may benefit from being more aggressive on pitches he can drive, but he projects to be a pesky, contact-oriented hitter who gets on base. He is an average runner with good instincts on the basepaths. Torin is a polished defender with plus actions and a plus arm at shortstop, though he runs into some consistency issues. His lower half has gotten thicker and he’ll need to maintain his body to ensure he doesn’t lose range and have to move off the position.
  
  The Future: Torin projects to be an up-the-middle defender who puts together tough at-bats and finds his way on base despite limited impact. It will be key for him to remain a shortstop.

Questions remain about his long-term offensive impact, but Torin surprised his new organization with his knack for finding the barrel. He was one of the organization's better performers in the DSL, hitting .333 with gap power and nearly twice as many walks (37) as strikeouts (20).
  
  Scouting Report: Torin's bat speed is just average, but he sees the ball well and is seemingly on every pitch. He has advanced hand-eye coordination evidenced by his 10% overall whiff rate and 5% in-zone whiff rate. His swing decisions are good; he chases only 20% of the time. He does not safely project for even average power, but with his age and contact skills, more strength and pop could come in time. He is a flashy defender with soft hands, a plus arm and good instincts, with relatively few questions about his ability to stick at shortstop.
